About Lloyd Harbor, NY

In 1654, the Matinecock Native Americans sold 3,000 acres of land to English settlers in of what is now called Lloyd Neck.  James Lloyd acquired the neck in 1676 and it was later taken over by his son Henry who farmed the land and erected a house that still stands in Caumsett State Park.  After his death, his son Joseph built the Joseph Lloyd Manor House, which he was forced to abandon during the Revolutionary War. Henry Lloyd IV was the last Lloyd to own the estate.
