2019 Acura MDX vs 2019 Volvo XC90

Competition is fierce in the SUV segment. It’s easy to think all SUVs are created equal, but that’s certainly not the case. Here at Acura of Huntington, we are proud to offer the 2019 Acura MDX, an SUV that proves to be a cut above the rest in many areas. However, we know we may be biased, which is why we created a head-to-head comparison of the 2019 Acura MDX against the 2019 Volvo XC90. Which one comes out on top?

Performance

While both the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90 offer a superb ride, the 2019 MDX delivers a bit more underneath the hood. The Acura MDX at our NY Acura dealership comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 worth 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The Volvo XC90, on the other hand, equips a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain as standard. It only achieves 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, the MDX features a nine-speed automatic transmission across all trim levels, and the XC90 an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Versatility

There’s nothing quite like an SUV that is able to adapt to your every changing need. In this SUV comparison, the Acura MDX maintains its lead with its greater offering of cargo room. Behind the second-row seat lies 43.4 cubic feet of storage volume, to which the Volvo XC90 struggles to keep up with considering its 41.8 cubic feet of cargo space. While both models integrate split-folding rear seats as standard, the XC90 offers just 85.7 cubic feet with it engaged. While spacious, it just can’t match the 90.9 cubic feet of total storage room offered in the 2019 Acura MDX for sale near Bayshore, NY.

Amenities

When it comes to in-cabin amenities, the 2019 Volvo XC90 simply can’t hold a candle to the 2019 Acura MDX. For instance, the Acura SUV comes standard with smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The Volvo XC90 doesn’t offer compatibility for Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ until top trims—not standard like the MDX. Additionally, both the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90 come standard with a tire pressure monitoring system. However, the 2019 MDX does one better by implementing a location and pressure indicator for assistance; the Volvo XC90 doesn’t offer such a function.
